HOW TO INSTALL
CEILING TRACK
Compatible with: Mercedes Sprinter Van 144/170
Year 2007 and up

  INTRODUCTION

INSTALLATION OVERVIEW

This guide will show you how to install the RUV ceiling track in a Sprinter 144 (2007+).

It takes about 2 hours for first timers to complete the install.

The RUV Kit has two long pieces of RUV track that get fastened to the ceiling beams of the van.

We have developed a unique fastening system we call a “Speed Rail” that greatly simplifies the installation.

It also strengthens the RUV track and provides accurate measurement.

When you are done you can hang a hammock from the supports

WHAT'S IN THE KIT

  • The long cardboard tube contains the two ceiling rails and two cross rails for the center of the van. The tube also contains the other rails for the walls.

  • We also ship a box that contains speed rails and hardware.

  • A Bag of X M6 stainless bolts and nuts for assembling the speed rails.

  • A Bag of aluminum ¼” Rivets

  • What else will you need? A buddy, a cordless drill with a ¼” bit, A Rivet gun, a boring step bit and a ratchet for tightening nuts

  IMPORTANT

SUMMARY OF STEPS (2 HOURS)

  1. Loosely assemble (2) speed rails with stainless bolts outside the van. Rail #1 is the most forward, #2, #3, #4 in that order. Arrow points to the front of the van.

  2. Connect RUV Track to the rail. Do not tighten bolts yet

  3. Install drivers side by walking rail in from the rear of Van towards front cockpit, Slide it in the rear pillar hole, then position the speed track in place over the ceiling beam.

  4. Using our Centering tool. Align speed rail with each ceiling beam, Drill ¼” hole in ceiling beam and install ¼” Rivets. Do this individually for every beam. Tighten RUV Track down as a final step

  5. Repeat for the passenger side long RUV track.

  6. Install 2 Pieces of Cross RUV track in the center of the fan. Use Cross rail Speed struts to align where L track will go

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Loosely assemble (2) speed rails with stainless bolts outside the van. Rail #1 is the most forward, #2, #3, #4 in that order. Arrow points to the front of the van.

  2. Connect RUV Track (L Track) to the speed rail. Do not tighten bolts yet as we need some flex in the combined speed rail/RUV track assembly when we put it inside the van.

  3. Install drivers-side ceiling rail by walking rail in from the rear of van towards front cockpit, Slide it in the rear pillar hole, then position the speed track in place over the ceiling beam.

  4. Using our Centering tool align speed rail with each ceiling beam, Drill ¼” hole in ceiling beam and install ¼” Rivets. Put 4 rivets each in every rib for the 5 ribs in the middle of the van (Rib B,C,D,E,F) for the ribs on each end (Rib A and G) Put 2 rivets each. Be sure to punch your ¼” hole and rivet one at a time to make sure there is alignment.

  5. Repeat for the passenger side long RUV track and Tighten track down.

  6. Install 2 Pieces of Cross RUV track in the center of the van. Use the shorter cross Speed Rails to align where L track will go
